Transportability

When a company agrees to use the Maintenance Welder Competency microcredential, they agree to the terms of the brokerage arrangement for transfer of welder competency records between employers.

An employer is reimbursed for the residual value of a welder's competency record if they leave and go to another employer, and that the new employer can purchase the welder competency record for the residual value.

Transfer of welder competency records is handled via the MWC Portal, with MWC acting as the "brokerage agent" for transfer of the residual value.

Calculation of Residual Value

The residual value of an MWC record is calculated on the base value of the minimum typical direct costs for completion of the competency.

This is depreciated on a monthly basis over 36 months, down to a minimum residual value.
